about
Two years ago this month, I played my first solo shows under the Negative Midas Touch moniker having been recording segments of songs since mid 2014. These songs were moulded to form the self titled EP released in June 2015, of which 'Every Room' was the one I was most proud of. The support and offers of tours, follow-up releases and collaborations after releasing the EP was overwhelming, and the workload that followed of recording and playing live was to the detriment of this project: I'm hypercritical of myself and NMT, and I especially struggle with recording. The two compilation tracks I managed before the end of 2015 were some I am particularly not proud of, and hence I feel I have avoided and strayed from recording over the last two years, despite enjoying live performance.
Every Room II is a follow up to the track of the same name on my self titled EP. While both combat my own insecurity and the female condition, the second part of this track magnifies this in reality, tackling the vulnerability following a drink spiking in 2016 and how I found solace in domestic architecture.
Every Room I and Every Room II will form a double A side, self released tape over the summer of 2017.
